Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our team!

 

JOB SUMMARY:       

Helps patients by providing clinical and business office assistance in the offices and clinics of health care providers, such as, physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, and optometrists.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to):

  1. Uses computer applications
  2. Answers telephones
  3. Greets patients
  4. Updates and files patient medical records
  5. Codes and fills out insurance forms
  6. Schedules appointments
  7. Arranges for hospital admissions and laboratory services
  8. Handles correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping
  9. Performs all administrative duties in a clinic or office

May perform below clinical duties-under the responsibility and direct supervision of licensed person and after documented training and proof of competency

  1. Takes medical histories
  2. Administers basic first aid
  3. Explains treatment procedures to patients
  4. Prepares patients for examination
  5. Takes vital signs
  6. Assists the physician during exams
  7. Collects and prepares laboratory specimens
  8. Performs basic laboratory tests
  9. Instructs patients about medication and special diets
  10. Prepares and administers medications non- invasive medication as directed by a physician and supervised by a licensed person.
  11. Operates office medical  equipment
  12. Removes sutures and changing dressings
  13. Participates in periods of emergency
  14. Performs specified and approved aseptic techniques

Qualifications

Education/Certification:  High School diploma. Prefer graduation of a post-secondary medical assisting program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and/or 6-12 month clinical experience. AHA BLS certification within two weeks of hire.

 

Clinical skills:  Clinical Skills may be specific to the clinical setting but may include EKGS, respiratory testing, lab tests classified as “waived” under CLIA, and administering medication only by unit, or single dosage, or by a dosage calculated and verified by a healthcare practitioner.  

 

Equipment/Technology:  Basic computer skills necessary

 

Language/Communication:  English, Medical terminology, Grammar, Spelling & punctuation

 

Mathematical Skills:  Basic

 

Mental Capabilities:  Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow

 

Interpersonal:  Effectively communicates with administration, managers, and staff. Exceptional customer service and telephone etiquette

 

Performance:  Requires ability to work independently and with groups/teams as both project leader and team member. Requires attention to detail and ability to assimilate large amounts of information from various sources. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and can work effectively with a diversity of personalities.
