Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Radiology Technologist to join our team!

 

JOB SUMMARY:  

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for the daily organization of activities in the department.  The purpose of this job is to perform radiographic procedures on a variety of radiographic equipment.  Assists Radiologists and maintains filing records and paper work.  Communicates effectively and maintains a good work environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Interviews the patient prior to testing and analyzes the patient’s general body size, physical condition, age and medical history to accurately apply radiographic procedures; improvises positions and techniques accordingly.
  2. Sets, adjusts and controls a variety of complex electronic equipment to apply ionizing radiation for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations.  Operates portable machines on patient floors and units; and in the operating room.
  3. Assesses technical quality of radiographs before giving such to the Radiologist; performs repeats as necessary.
  4. Provides protection to patients and fellow employees in accordance with national, state and departmental safety standards.
  5. Performs other activities such as taking call, keeping rooms stocked with supplies, preparing equipment for use, assisting other techs with patient exams, pulling films, performing receptionist duties after hours, reading reports to physicians over the phone, advising patients regarding availability of results.
  6. Documents appropriate patient information necessary for exam interpretation and patient care.
  7. Assists the Radiologist in the administration of contrast materials.
  8. Answers questions and provides information to center customers, including nursing staff, physicians, and the general public on radiographic procedures, radiographic anatomy and radiation safety practices.
  9. Maintains flexibility as department grows with a willingness to accept additional responsibilities requested by department director.
  10. Demonstrates age-specific competency for the following groups: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
  11. Acts professional in every situation: patient, co-worker or intradepartmental.
  12. Recognizes that many people we see are at a low point in their lives and will show compassion for them even if it is only a smile.
  13. Protects information that is sensitive, proprietary or confidential in nature.  Adheres to Patient Rights Policy and patient confidentiality standards.
  14. Works to provide functional and safe surroundings for patients and staff (i.e., safety, security, infection control, etc.).  Strives to always promote personal and patient safety.  Demonstrates awareness of the location of applicable hospital and department specific manuals.
  15. Completes all annual mandatory education requirements (including hospital, department, and job specific competencies).
  16. Attends the required number of staff meetings per department standard.
  17. Arrives at work station and is ready to work at the designated start time.
  18. Is willing to do assignments, cross-training, or tasks within the scope of his/her job description, as asked by the manager, which are deemed necessary to meet the needs of the department.
  19. Maintains adaptability.  Adapts to change in a positive and professional manner.  Accepts responsibility for his/her actions, attitudes and mistakes without placing blame.
  20. Is accountable for completing all assigned responsibilities/tasks and takes action when opportunities to improve are identified.
  21. Promotes effective working relationship and works effectively as a part of the department/team to facilitate the hospital and department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  22. Other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualifications

Education:  Must hold or obtain current licensure as a RT(R) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.  Must hold or obtain current BLS.

Language/Communication:  Covered by certification.

Mathematical Skills:  Covered by certification.

Mental Capabilities:  Covered by certification.

Interpersonal:  Covered by certification.

Performance:  Covered by certification.
