Expected Salary Range: 140k - 180k (depending on experience)

Position Summary

The Director of Learning, Innovation, and Design (LID) plays a pivotal role in advancing educational excellence across campuses. This position leads campus-based LID directors and ensures that faculty are equipped with innovative teaching strategies, resources, and tools to prepare students for success in a dynamic, 21st-century world. By fostering rigorous and deep learning across all disciplines, the LID Director helps create a strong foundation for students' academic achievement and future endeavors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with Faculty: Collaborate with educators to design, coordinate, and deliver engaging and effective educational experiences that enhance learning outcomes and the overall learner experience.
  • Driving Innovation in Education: Research, develop, and promote forward-thinking approaches to teaching and learning, ensuring that faculty have access to cutting-edge pedagogical methods and resources.
  • EdTech Implementation and Support: Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and ongoing support of educational technology systems and tools. Provide training and guidance to ensure faculty effectively leverage technology to enrich instruction and meet the school’s educational mission.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess and refine teaching practices and technology use, fostering a culture of growth, innovation, and excellence in education.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·  Leadership and Supervision

  • Supervise Learning, Innovation, & Design (LID) Directors across lower, middle, & upper school campuses.
  • Provide leadership and vision to ensure alignment with the school’s educational goals.

 

·  Curriculum and Technology Integration

  • Evaluate, select, implement, and review curricular components that require the use of technology.
  • Identify and assess innovative educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to determine resources needed to optimize technology’s impact on student learning.
  • Educate faculty on how to effectively use technological resources to expand student learning opportunities.

 

·  Professional Development

  • Develop & deliver teacher training for required & innovative tools to optimize instructional practices.
  • Oversee professional development initiatives, including:
    • The Harker Teacher Institute (summer).
    • LID Vision Days (year-round).
    • Organizing faculty professional dev workshops, committees and opportunities throughout the year.
    • Coordinating opportunities for faculty to share findings from professional development experiences.

·  Continuous Assessment and Improvement

  • Continuously evaluate emerging and existing technology tools for alignment with Harker’s mission and educational goals.
  • Assess and enhance the effectiveness of technology tools and their implementation across all campuses.
  • Research & share best practices in educational assessment, curriculum development, & technology integration.

·  Collaboration and Strategic Planning

  • Work closely with the IT Director to develop and implement a comprehensive K-12 technology plan.
  • Maintain awareness of trends and practices at other leading schools to ensure Harker remains at the forefront of educational technology, particularly as a Silicon Valley institution.

·  Budget and Compliance

  • Develop and manage the technology budget for the LID department.
  • Review and provide feedback on the technology components of other academic departments' budgets.
  • Ensure technology programs comply with all student safety laws and expectations, such as COPPA.

·  Classroom Instruction and Oversight

  • Teach computer science and/or innovation classes to students as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements

  • Deep Expertise in Instructional Technology: Proven knowledge and extensive experience in applying instructional technology effectively in educational settings.
  • Exceptional Teaching Skills: Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging and impactful instruction to diverse audiences, including both students and faculty.
  • Knowledge of Educational Innovations: Familiarity with current trends, technologies, and innovative practices used in comparable independent schools nationwide.
  • Proficiency in Instructional Design: Hands-on experience or formal training in designing, implementing, and evaluating instructional strategies and tools.
  • Strong Interpersonal and Emotional Intelligence (EQ): Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills, with a high level of emotional intelligence to foster collaboration and trust.
