Reports to: Resident Camp Director (direct); Unit Leader (indirect)
During assigned sessions housing and meals will be provided.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Unit Counselor works under the direction of the unit leader and camp leadership to provide a positive experience for campers in their care. Counselors are responsible for the delivery of quality programs to campers, and applying training skills and knowledge to activities carried out in the unit and camp as a whole. Counselors will live and work in a communal environment with a majority of time spent outdoors at the camp on Mount Lemmon. Please note that our camp is at high elevation in rugged terrain, the ability to successfully live at altitude and navigate the terrain is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the guidance of Unit Leader, with supervision by Camp Directors, delivery quality program to campers

Assist in the general operation of camp as assigned by the Unit Leader

Maintain all health and safety standards in each unit; oversee assigned unit’s housekeeping, supplies, sanitation, and equipment.

Participate in the planning of all-camp activities.

Coordinate the opening and closing of the unit, including cleaning and inventories.

Attend trainings and meetings as required, some of which may be off-site

Demonstrate and promote a climate of courtesy and professionalism to coworkers, the volunteers served by the Council, and others with whom her/his job put her/him in contact

Perform job duties in accordance with the Safety and Risk Management Plan

Prioritize the safety of campers, self and coworkers

Contribute feedback toward intern evaluation

Engage respectfully in delivering and receiving feedback
