Description

The Quality and Food Safety Director coordinates the implementation of Q&FS standards in the organization through the deployment of multifunctional ways of working.

This role leads to key continuous improvement projects/strategies that enable the delivery of Q&FS objectives and performance. Tasks are executed in close collaboration with plant teams, and business unit functions including marketing, R&D, Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, Sales, and supplier quality assurance.

The appropriate level of resources, skills, and support at the site level is ensured through the training, development, and management of the organization's Quality and Food Safety team. Building and fostering the development of a healthy Q&FS talent pipeline at the organizational level is part of this leadership role.

The role ensures the governance of Q&FS performance in the Organization through appropriate Q&FS culture and behavior and has a significant impact through appropriate incident management on site, including the CAPA program.

 

Qualifications

SCOPE OF THE ROLE:

  • Management and coaching of the organization's Quality & Food Safety team, supporting the development of a talent portfolio for Q&FS at the production site, country, and region level.
  • Lead the implementation of the Quality & Food Safety strategy in the organization, improving established ways of working and delivering against key metrics reflected in the company's business objectives.
  • Lead the quality agenda in the organization, challenging the factory management team when necessary to ensure healthy products that meet regulatory requirements
  • Lead and support the implementation of Grupo Bimbo's Quality and Food Safety standards in the organization and promote the mentality and behaviors consistent with Q&FS
  • Maintain an efficient quality and food safety management system, in compliance with Grupo Bimbo's Always Superior Quality standards, as well as GFSI, and HACCP standards, including CAPA and training programs.
  • First line of contact for legal authorities and product-related Q&FS requests as the “person responsible for quality” for the Organization
  • Ensures integration of Q&FS procedures and processes into plant operating system to drive quality performance
  • Conduct key reviews of metrics, incidents, and continuous improvement to ensure management-level transparency and coordinate site CAPA activities
  • Manages quality and food safety incidents based on the global standard at the site level, supporting decision-making for out-of-specification materials and products, ensuring relevant corrective and preventive actions are defined and implemented.
  • Responsible for site approval of all products, raw materials, packaging and process specifications, quality food safety risk assessments, and change management, using defined and agreed ways of working.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 6 years of relevant experience in quality and food safety in an industrial production environment (Mass Consumption: Beverages and/or Food).
  • Experience in managing Quality and food safety processes in production lines and a proven track record in training and developing teams and individuals.
  • Proven technical experience in the development of quality and food safety processes and management.
  • Experience managing Quality and Food Safety processes in plants at a regional level in 2 or more countries.
  • Able to draw on personal experience and apply own judgment to make firm decisions.
  • Implementation of HACCP, GMPs, ISO 22000, ISO9000 quality and food safety management systems
  • Regulatory and food legislation (FSMA)
  • Audit of Quality and Food Safety systems.
  • Statistics, problem-solving and Lean Six Sigma methods
  • Food microbiology, analytical chemistry, and sensory methods.
  • Process engineering, manufacturing equipment, and controls.
  • Activity management process
  • Experience in creating work teams. 
  • In behavioral terms, Close Leadership, Persuasion and Influence, Strategic Vision, Change Management, and Result Orientation.
  • Management of management indicators: Complaints per Million Indicators, technical specifications, superior quality, certifications, and regulations.
  • Quality and safety of raw material suppliers.
  • Laboratory management of physicochemical and raw materials analysis.
  • Fluid English / Spanish desirable
