JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing assistance to people we support physically, socially and psychologically and completing required trainings for compliance with State/Federal regulations or standards of service and general quality of service and safety of the people we support in the programs as per the Policy and Procedure of the Agency and the governing agencies. These tasks are complex and required negotiation and communication skills, organizational abilities, advocacy skills and overall business sense.

REPORTS TO: Residential Coordinator and QIDP

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Qualifications

 

  • Experience in providing services and support to people we support with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Minimum age requirement is 18 years.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and written English.
  • Sign language is an added asset.
  • Must be able to work independently and responsibly with confidential information
  • Must meet Metro Homes Healthcare Maryland, Inc. and State Regulations requirement for pre-employment.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE, REGISTRATION:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid driver’s license from state of residence to drive Metro Homes Healthcare Maryland, Inc. vehicles
  • Current CPR/FIRST AID
  • CMT Certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to bend, stoop push, reach, lift, sit, walk for periods of time.
  • Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics while assisting with transfers of people weighing up to 250 pounds.
  • Must be free of communicable diseases.

VISUAL AND COGNITIVE DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to give and receive verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to operate office equipment, including but not limited to telephone, calculator, copier, etc.

WORK LOCATION AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Home-like and office-like setting with varying degrees of background noise of people we support residing in the home. Hazard may exist if the staff fails to use proper body mechanics in safely transferring and lifting people we support, if vehicles are not operated safely or if proper techniques are not used when intervening with people we support. The possibility of blood-borne pathogens exists if universal precautions are not followed.

TRAINING:

  • Individuals must have the ability to complete all training requirement and demonstrate competency with 80% on written/computerized exams.
