SUMMARY: The Coordinator of Campus Recreation will assist with oversight of campus recreation programing at Logan University. Primary responsibilities include coordination of a comprehensive fitness and wellness program through the Harris Wellness Center. Under the leadership of the Manager of Campus Recreation, the Coordinator of Campus Recreation will also provide event planning for Harris Wellness Center, assist with general student staff supervision, and encourage Logan community engagement. Some nights and weekend work required.

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in coordinating leagues and special events including advertising, promotions, registration, paperwork, and scheduling.
  2. Ensure the accuracy of information regarding Intramural and Club Sports on social media and in print.
  3. Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising student employees, to include Intramural and Club Sports, as needed.
  4. Assist Wellness Center meetings to include student employees, Sports Club Council, and Athletic Directors, as needed.
  5. Assist with CPR certifications for faculty, staff, and students.
  6. Assist with determining new sports clubs, the registration process, and maintenance of club contact information and paperwork turned in.
  7. Assist with determining fitness and wellness activities/programs for campus community.
  8. Plan and coordinate regularly scheduled programs to include, but not limited to healthy eating, fitness, stress management, and any other wellness-related programs.
  9. Assist with coordinating group fitness, personal training, and other wellness-related programs/activities including advertising, promotions, registration, paperwork, and scheduling.
  10. Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor Degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Management, Administration or related.
  • Experience in recreation, fitness, and wellness programing.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Computer literacy with emphasis on spreadsheets and graphics.
  • Understanding and ability to work within the mission of the University
  • Ability to focus on priorities and strategies
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • A commitment to professional development
  • Experience in working within a highly collaborative manner in order to achieve results that are significant in scope; this includes the ability to multi-task with demanding time frames
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement and the ability to change as needed.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: CPR and First Aid certification required. Nationally recognized group fitness or personal training certification preferred.

Other Qualifications: Must be able to work evenings and weekends occasionally.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel while typing on computer, handling papers, staplers, etc., or when demonstrating/adjusting exercise equipment. Must be able to talk or hear when supervising student workers and assisting users of the Wellness Center. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl when demonstrating proper use of exercise equipment and must occasionally run when coaching intramural sports. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance when setting up, adjusting or demonstrating machines. The employee must frequently lift and/or move equipment weighing more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception in order to help people use machines properly and to coach intramural sports.
