JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance, this position is responsible for performing daily maintenance tasks to ensure the physical infrastructure of educational facilities creates a safe and conducive learning environment for students and staff. Maintenance Staff will be required to perform a wide variety of skilled activities: Carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc (unless trade specific licenses are required by law) as well as other duties such as working with grounds maintenance and other maintenance members for situational logistical requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Daily job responsibilities to include, but not limit to:
- Repair various items, systems and/or components to include items structurally attached and unattached on campus.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms and classrooms as needed.
- Arrange furnishings and equipment (desk, chairs, and tables) and clean class rooms in preparation for meetings, activities, and events.
- Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean trash receptacles as necessary.
- Assist skilled maintenance staff with projects (transporting and/or securing materials and completing specific tasks) for the purpose of completing projects in a safe, efficient manner.
- Pressure washing sidewalks and buildings.
- Clean gutters, culverts, catch basins and other drainage structures.
- Coordinate with assigned lead and/or supervisor for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
- Install classroom and office equipment for facility staff.
- Repair or replace existing/outdated lights to led lighting and replace led bulbs when needed.
- General maintenance of the grounds.
- Repair a variety of furniture/building components for the purpose of ensuring a safe facility.
- Other routine maintenance duties as assigned.
- Respond to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance of roofs, electrical motors, lawn equipment, exit/emergency lights, smoke detectors, shop vehicles, HVAC.
- Perform a variety of carpentry duties, including, but not limited to, new construction, remodel, fabrication and repair/replacement of doors, walls, signs, counters, shelves, chairs and tables.
- Perform a variety of plumbing repairs/maintenance, including but not limited to, restroom commodes, sink fixtures, and drinking fountains.
- Install and maintain door closers, kick plates, hinge locks.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
