How You Will Make an Impact


The In-Person Academic Coach will plan, organize, and implement an appropriate personalized program in-person instructional environment that guides, supports, and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, using data and technology. This Position will collaborate with other instructional staff and school personnel to support the student’s academic plan. This position reports to the Head of Schools or the designee.

  • Promote and support the School Mission, Vision, and Core Values representing those in all interactions with families and within educational practices.
  • Provide authentic, meaningful feedback on assignments via the Learning Management System (LMS) in the classroom.
  • Conduct virtual synchronous instructional sessions utilizing effective online learning best practices as the student needs or conduct an in-person instructional session.
  • Manage the discussion board in each class to encourage participation.
  • Plan, prepare for, and deliver instructional activities to facilitate learning experiences, in the assigned area, and in-person classroom.
  • Welcome new students within 1 business day of enrollment with same day welcome.
  • Engage students in goal-setting and progress monitoring.
  • Collaborate with the Academic Coach in the assignment of appropriate courses of study with input from parents and students.
  • Create and maintain an effective learning environment by modeling positive and respectful behavior while upholding and supporting high academic expectations.
  • Establish and communicate learning objectives and content standards to be assessed.
  • Monitor and document student’s progress and communication with student in the Student Information System (SIS).
  • Implement effective interventions to ensure student success.
  • Provide communication to students and parents at a minimum on a weekly basis via phone, text, email, and/or other electronic means.
  • Accept, carefully review, and evaluate coursework within 12 - 24 hours of submission.
  • Administer, proctor, grade tests, and award test scores, providing feedback and retries to promote mastery-based learning.
  • Provide availability during the school’s operating hours with scheduled office hours.
  • Maintain student records in compliance with administration’s requirements.
  • Work independently and efficiently, exercising reasonable judgment, in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
  • Perform administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned. These may be changed or modified from time to time.

  • Knowledge in a variety of educational programs specifically focused on private schools.
  • Ability to learn Student Information and Learning Management Systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid State Teaching Credential is preferred, but not required.
  • Teaching experience required; experience teaching in-person learning environment is preferred.
  • Strong technology skills (Intermediate or Advanced, or Expert skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • and Google Apps is preferred.
  • Able to work in a rapidly growing and changing environment.
  • Strong customer service-focused approach with a commitment to student achievement.
  • Proficient level of skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other technology applications.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% in the performance of job duties are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods, prepare, or inspect documents, and operate office equipment.
  • Hearing: Ability to hear average or typical conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communication, in person or remote, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret, and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgment and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records.
  • Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work. Understand how to manage stress. high workflow management, high project coordination, and high people engagement.
  • Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together, use hands to grasp, and manipulate small objects; twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
  • Strength: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
