HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

The Technology Services Systems Analyst is responsible for evaluating current business processes and software solutions defining and recommending improvements. This position will work closely with the team to implement the solutions, test the implemented solutions to ensure they solve the business problems, and provide system documentation as needed. This position reports to the Director of Technology Services.

  • Confers with staff, computer users, and department managers to determine requirements and detail specifications for new or modified software and hardware.
  • Evaluates and define procedures and processes of new and existing systems across the organization.
  • Recommends improvements and solutions for existing or new programs.
  • Creates process models, project specifications, and diagrams for project implementation.
  • Coordinates design specifications and production changes with developers. Outlines changes to existing applications or systems.
  • Participates with the development team to implement software to meet the design specifications.
  • Tests new hardware and software configurations for usability and proper function; validates and documents results.
  • Provides for the documentation of systems projects, including writing and maintaining user instructions when required to facilitate users’ understanding.
  • Performs research in emerging technologies to identify new technological advancements and processes for the organization that improve the efficiency and capability of information systems.
  • Perform administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned. These may be changed or modified from time to time. 

 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and understanding of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to employment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Organization’s culture, business units, services, and products.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism while maintaining composure in stressful situations.
  • Ability to communicate and present ideas in user-friendly language to technical and non-technical clients and staff, as needed.
  • Ability to research various information systems and development tools as required.
  • Must be detail-oriented with a strong work ethic focused on implementing changes to information systems.
  • Ability to develop solutions to the problem of unfamiliar systems, software, and hardware problems and a passion for solving long-term problems.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and explain mathematical rules and equations used for data analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize work, excellent organizational skills, and initiative to improve processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, or 2 years equivalent work experience demonstrating applicable skills. Equivalent experience is included in and not separate from total years of professional experience.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in a technology support and engineering role with progressive levels of responsibility preferred.
  • Working knowledge of system development methodologies, including Agile, Joint-Application Development (JAD), and traditional Waterfall.
  • Experience with C, Java, object-oriented programming languages, and application development environments like Visual Studio.
  • Experience with scripting shells, including Python, PowerShell, VBA, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs spanning various information systems.
  • Experience and skills with LAN and WAN technologies.
  • Working knowledge of project management and all phases of the systems development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Proficient skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other technology applications, including Office 365 web-based applications and Windows client operating systems.
  • Strong knowledge of a Windows Server-based network, including Active Directory, IIS, and PowerShell.
  • Working knowledge of database systems including MySQL, Mongo, Azure Cloud Services (Azure AD), virtual machines, and virtual networks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate in both technical and non-technical language.
  • Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision, dependability, high quality, and quantity required.
  • Ability to travel in the performance of job duties is required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds.    

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mental Demands: high workflow management, high project coordination, and high people engagement.
  • Finger Dexterity: primarily using the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • Talking: especially where one must accurately, loudly, or quickly convey detailed or important instructions or ideas.
  • Average Hearing: able to hear average conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Average Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents and operate office equipment or machinery.
  • Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work required.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Working in a low to high-noise environment with frequent deadline pressures.
