Description

The Family Child Care Educator Support Specialist will visit Family Child Care (FCC) homes and will work closely with home child care educators to develop and implement educational activities for young children, as well as provide support and technical assistance to maintain compliance with the Department of Early Education & Care (EEC) and Child and Adult Care Food Program regulations.

 

Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Develop in conjunction with the FCC Home Visitor Supervisor, a program of regularly scheduled visits to FCC homes. Document visits with written reports on a weekly basis. Encourage and support a developmental approach to early education in FCC homes;
  • Participate in assessing providers’ needs for equipment and supplies;
  • Participate in the development and implementation of training for FCC Educators; Attend monthly meetings and scheduled trainings;
  • Evaluate home for safety, using home safety checklist;
  • Provide support and technical assistance to FCC Educators in regards to, but not limited to: screenings and assessments of children, curriculum development, environment set up, FCC educator Self-evaluation tools and Individual Professional Development Plans;
  • Plan and assist nursery school program for preschool FCC children;
  • Work to insure that developmental screening, educational plans and subsequent activity plans are being carried out for each child, in each provider home;
  • Update educational plans with each FCC Educator, every six months;
  • Maintain FCC Educators files in office up to date, as required by licensing;
  • Participate in social service plans and casework meetings for children, as the need arises; and
  • All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or a related field is strongly preferred;
  • Experience working in Early Childhood Education and/or Family Child Care (FCC);
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish is required;
  • Ability to work well with adults and children;
  • Reliable Transportation is required;
  • Must possess the qualifications required for their positions in accordance with EEC regulations;
  • Completed CORI, SORI and fingerprint scan in accordance with regulations set forth by the Department of Early Education and Care.
