Big Bend Hospice (BBH) is your “Hometown Hospice” providing compassionate end-of-life care for over 40 years to the Big Bend region. Guided by our values of integrity, respect, and excellence, we are seeking an experienced Clinical Educator (BSN) to join our team.
The ideal candidate is a Clinical Educator (BSN) who plays a key role in ensuring clinical excellence while maintaining involvement in direct patient care. They are responsible for developing organizational and discipline-specific educational content and programming that integrates classroom instruction, simulation-based learning, and hands-on clinical experience. This individual collaborates with leaders across the organization to identify educational needs and deliver innovative training that enhances both patient care quality and staff competency.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
The Clinical Educator (BSN) responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Design, develop, and deliver engaging classroom-based training sessions for all clinical staff levels (Nursing, MT, SCC, SW, Aides).
- Develop and facilitate simulation and skills laboratory experiences to enhance clinical competencies.
- Create interactive learning materials using Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Prezi, and other educational technologies.
- Implement diverse teaching methodologies tailored to various learning styles and adult learning principles.
- Assess learning outcomes and continuously improve educational programs based on feedback and best practices.
- Partner with the Training and Development Manager on strategic initiatives, including Guardian Angels, The Perfect Visit, Skills Fair, and other organizational training programs.
- Collaborate with Informatics to integrate technology solutions into educational offerings.
- Collaborate with the Compliance Department, demonstrating knowledge of and adherence to state and federal regulations, including CHAP standards, from a training perspective.
- Coordinate with clinical leaders to identify training needs and develop targeted educational solutions.
- Maintain a small patient caseload to ensure clinical skills remain current and relevant.
- Conduct regular visits to the Inpatient Unit (IPU) to stay connected with frontline clinical practices.
- Integrate real-world clinical experiences into educational content and case studies.
- Research and implement evidence-based adult learning techniques and educational best practices.
- Develop competency-based training modules and assessment tools.
- Create standardized educational resources.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and implement data-driven improvements.
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of clinical policies and procedures across departments.
- Teach and facilitate computer documentation, including both how-to and regulatory content, for all applicable disciplines in the EMR.
- Promote and model point-of-care documentation using mobile devices during patient visits.
- Perform field observations as needed for identified training needs.
- Collaborate with team managers to identify clinicians requiring refresher or remedial training. Plan, facilitate, and execute related training, then evaluate and report outcomes to the Team Manager and Training and Development Manager.
- Maintain accurate training records and documentation; provide to the Training and Development Assistant for inclusion in employee training files.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
- Shifts: Full Time, 8 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday
- May have some early mornings and/ or late evenings to accommodate training schedules.
- Occasional weekend if there is a need for training staff that can only work weekends.
Travel Requirement: You are required to travel between Big Bend Hospice office locations and our Inpatient units in Tallahassee Florida.
