Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner -  Assertive Community Treatment

Our adult and youth Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) programs are seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric services to adults and youth who are enrolled in our Youth and Adult ACT programs.  This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric services to youth and families enrolled in Youth ACT and adults enrolled in our Adult ACT programs
  • Provide consultation to staff on diagnostic and treatment questions
  • Participate in formal and informal training and education to staff
  • Prescribe medications, monitor, and review of drug regimen for enrolled individuals
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, consult with the Youth/Adult ACT Team in developing and reviewing service plans for all enrolled individuals
  • Provide clinical expertise, consultation, and technical assistance to the Youth and Adult ACT Team, collaborate with county and community partners, and participate in any quality audit and utilization review
  • Provide on-site/community based/home visits, medication evaluations, and reviews for ACT enrolled participants.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of one year experience working with youth and adults diagnosed with mental illness.
  • Must be fully licensed Nurse Practitioner in the State of New York
  • CPR Certification
  • Must be able to work independently

You Have, or are willing to get:

  • National Provider Identification (NPI) - issued by the federal Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  All electronic prescriptions in NYS require an NPI.  Claims processing functions also require the NPI of nurse practitioners and physicians. 
  • Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number  – issued by the United States Department of Justice Department DEA to nurse practitioners and physicians to prescribe controlled substances.  DEA registration must be renewed every three years for those issued a prescriber registration.
  • NYS Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement (NYS DOH BNE) registration  – issued by the NYS DOH BNE to nurse practitioners and physicians to prescribe controlled substances.  NYS DOH BNE registration must be renewed every two years for those issued a prescriber registration. 
  • NYS Medicaid Enrollment - in cases in which a Prescriber is prescribing to a NYS Medicaid enrolled client. Revalidation must occur at least every five years.
