Description

As a Family Support Worker, you will provide parenting education and support to families. Healthy Families is a home visiting program designed to assist parents in enhancing or learning the skills that enable them to provide a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for their children. You will report to the Healthy Families Supervisor and work onsite with the required community-based travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish positive and professional relationships with families and provide services in their home.
  • Utilize appropriate curricula and support materials to educate families on positive parent-child interaction and child development.
  • Model and demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Assist families in becoming more discerning consumers of community services and make referrals as need arise.
  • Participate in the development of a service plan for each family.
  • Ensure that families have identified a primary healthcare provider and are receiving essential medical services.
  • Responsibly perform duties associated with special program services i.e. FRC, special events, etc.
  • Complete assigned paperwork as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements and Education:

  • High School Diploma
  • Two years of work experience in human services. 
  • Experience with parenting education and/or early childhood development, preferred.
  • Must have a valid NYS driver’s license, safe driving record, and have access to a vehicle for full-time business use.
