About The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain
The Hermitage Club is a private club and ski area located on Haystack Mountain in Vermont. We provide our 400 member families with an exclusive, crowd-free alpine experience. Our Snowsports team is committed to sharing a lifelong love for skiing and riding through personalized, high-quality instruction in a peaceful, professionally maintained environment.
 
Position Summary
Certified Ski Instructors provide top-tier instruction in skiing and snowboarding to members and guests in both private lessons and seasonal programs. This role requires strong communication, professionalism, and the ability to work with all ages—especially children. Instructors are expected to create a safe, enjoyable, and skill-appropriate learning environment while promoting the Hermitage Club’s core values.
 
Key Responsibilities
	- Assess student ability and assign appropriate skill levels or groups.
- Deliver clear, safe, and engaging instruction using varied techniques and demonstrations.
- Assist students with chairlift use and on-mountain navigation.
- Supervise children during all aspects of lessons, including snack/lunch breaks and pickup.
- Provide exceptional guest service, including equipment fitting and general inquiries.
- Serve as a positive role model, upholding the club’s hospitality and safety standards.
- Participate in training and mentorship:
	
		- Level 2 and above: Assist in training newer instructors.
- Level 3 and above: Support training program implementation.
 
- Help with daily operations, including lesson check-in, registration, hill setup/take-down, and general support.
- Limit off-duty communication with members; direct inquiries to management via official channels.
 
Requirements
	- Minimum age: 16
- Active PSIA-AASI and/or USSA certification (proof required)
- Previous experience in teaching, coaching, or instructing
- Intermediate skiing/snowboarding ability (linked turns on intermediate terrain)
- Fluent in English (verbal and written)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Available to work weekends and holidays
- Must wear a helmet while teaching
- Completion of a 4-day on-snow training course (required)
- Background check required
Pay Range: $22–$50/hour (based on PSIA-AASI/USSA certification level)
 
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
	- Ability to ski/snowboard, stand, kneel, and walk for extended periods
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must work in cold, snowy, and windy outdoor conditions
