Previous experience and knowledge of large ag equipment or commercial/turf equipment is welcomed but not required. General Purpose:  

This position is built around giving students an “all around” experience in a dealership. They’ll see and get real “hands-on” experience in Parts, Sales, and Service. Every intern we select is viewed as a potential full-time employee with strategic importance to our business and our customers. We’ll provide an experience designed to fit their career objectives, complement their academic work, enhance their learning, and help them gain critical experience in determining what’s right for their future career choice.  The Ag Dealer Intern reports to the Store Manager at their selected location.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of AVE-PLP’ s Vision, Purpose, and Guiding Principles.
  • Able and willing to relocate.
  • Have a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Desire to pursue a career in agriculture.
  • Must attach a resume to your application and should indicate anticipated graduation date and GPA.

 

Education:

  • Pursuing a degree in Agriculture, Agriculture Business, Operations Management, Business Administration, Agricultural Production Operations, Precision Agriculture, or related program.
  • Have a minimum 2.75 GPA.

 

Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program with at least one semester remaining after your internship.

 

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Passing a driving record (MVR), criminal history background checks, employment verification, and drug screen will be required prior to the start of employment.

  • Work is generally performed in a professional office environment.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the work location.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Must be able to commit to work 40 hours or more for 11 consecutive weeks during the summer.

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, walk on unpaved terrain, talk, reach with arms and hands, have good manual dexterity, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, handle or feel, hear alarms/telephones/normal speaking voice.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Moving, positioning, and carrying loads of up to 5 pounds upstairs and loading on four-foot-high surfaces frequently. 
  • Moderate physical work involves lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally.
