Job Summary

The Material Handler (Receiving Stocker) stocks, counts, measures, or weighs articles to verify contents of receipts against received products, transfers, or quality control inspected receipts by performing the following duties.

Essential Job Functions

  • Examines articles for defects and sorts the articles according to extent of defect.
  • Conveys materials and items from the receiving area to storage or to other designated areas. 
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code. 
  • Sorts and stores expired and damaged goods in the quarantine/damaged goods area. 
  • Make sure the product is clean and free of vendor labels or markings. 
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves or conveys orders to the packing station or shipping department. 
  • Uses a computer to look up inventory records. 
  • Unloads and unpacks incoming shipments. 
  • Maintains inventory records. 
  • Ensure product is stocked timely as per company policy.
  • Actively participates in meetings/workshops designed to enhance employee performance. 
  • Support the quality management system. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Required Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

Required Experience

  • Two to three years’ experience with WMS software.

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • N/A

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Able to operate multiple types of MHE.
  • Cross-trained in multiple departments.
  • Basic MS Office skills.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. 
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide. 
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to operate all MHE preferred.
  • Ability to navigate WMS and ERP systems preferred.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to work standing up, walk, use hands to operate tools and equipment and must be able to exert regularly up to 10 pounds of force, frequently exert 30 pounds of force and occasionally exert 50 pounds of force to constantly perform the essential job functions. The employee will be frequently required to reach with hands and arms, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places and extreme heat (non-weather). The employee is subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is subject to noise; The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
