Job Summary

The Coding Analyst plays a crucial role in the development and maintenance of software applications by analyzing, coding, and implementing solutions to meet business requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of programming languages, software development methodologies, and attention to detail. The Coding Analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality code, troubleshoots issues, and contributes to the overall success of software projects. The Medical Coding Analyst will report directly to the Director of Health Analytics and the Risk Adjustment and Quality Sanitas USA director, and it’s responsible for assisting in providing insights, analysis, reports and maintaining analytical findings. Accountable for identifying key drivers and investigating areas of opportunities.

  • Code Development - Write, modify, and debug code for software applications. Collaborate with software engineers and developers.
  • Design and implement efficient and scalable solutions. Ensure code is well-documented, modular, and follows coding standards.
  • Analysis and Problem Solving - Analyze user requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Identify and troubleshoot software defects. Conduct thorough code reviews.
  • Provide timely resolutions. Maintain code quality and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaboration - Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, quality assurance, and other developers. Participate in discussions and contribute ideas.
  • Deliver high-quality software solutions. Improve the overall development process.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance - Develop and execute unit tests. Collaborate with quality assurance teams.
  • Ensures the reliability and functionality of the code. Identify and address issues in a timely manner.
  • Documentation - Create and maintain technical documentation for code, processes, and configurations.
  • Update documentation to reflect changes in code or system configurations.
  • Technology Evaluation - Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies to enhance the development process.

Required Education

  • Degree or previous experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in coding and software development (2+ years).

 

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • N/A

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM codes, Category II codes, COA measures, CMS documentation requirements, state and federal regulations including compliance and reimbursement and the impact of diagnosis coding on risk adjustment payment models.
  • Expert knowledge of Risk Adjustment/HCC Model.
  • Excellent presentation, collaboration, and analytical skills and must be able to follow procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional research, planning and problem-solving, critical thinking.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College or Associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) preferred.

Physical Demands
