Job Summary

The Wellness Activities Coordinator position develops, coordinates and implements a program of activities that take place in the Wellness/Activity center, intended to provide mental, physical and social stimulus to patients, based upon identified needs, interests, capabilities, and well-being of each patient. The coordinator will also act as a liaison between the medical center staff and patients, community guests and professional visitors that may provide services for Wellness programs following state regulations and established policy and procedures.

  • Develop and implement creative therapeutic activities to help with different physical, mental, or psychosocial needs, such as socialization.
  • Develops a group activity plan, which meets the interests, needs and capability of participants. Supervise groups, lead games, exercise programs and other routine activities as assigned. Schedules, distributes and posts the weekly/monthly activities for patients to be aware of future events.
  • Host social events including Birthday Parties, Bingo, Domino, Social Dances, among others.
  • Responsible for decorating the event room or area according to the event theme. Coordinates transportation for the patients attending activities. Ensure equipment is maintained in good condition and the center is kept clean and organized.
  • Complete and submit monthly reporting of center activities.
  • Complete monthly activity reports, including detailed information about center activities (Reports must be submitted to Lead Wellness RN and Center Manager by the 5th of each month). Monthly Reporting-In form will include: Photos of activities, Participation sign-in sheets, Flyers, Projected calendar of events for upcoming month.
  • Patient Safety - Ensure equipment is maintained in good condition and the center is kept clean and organized.
  • Complaints and grievances - Collects any complaints and issues and shares them with the Lead Wellness RN as well as the Center Manager.

Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge as a Wellness/Activities Coordinator, Educator, Fitness Instructor.

Required Experience

  • Formal activity program: 1 year.

 

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Silver Sneakers certification or obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • CPR (BLS); First Aid. 
  • Certification Exercise and Physical Activities for older adults. 
  • Certification Senior Fitness Instructor.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Leadership and public speaking skills. Professional appearance. 
  • Able to respect and always maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of an aging population.
  • Good writing, verbal, and communication skills. 
  • Must be able to follow company policies and procedures.
  • People-oriented - enjoys interacting with people and working on group activities.
  • Ability to motivate patients.
  • Develop and deliver an exercise routine tailored to patient needs and capabilities.
  • Advance computer knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working with seniors: 1 year preferred.

Physical Demands
