Position Summary

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of technical activities associated with the performance of screening and diagnostic mammography procedures.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Perform a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate. Position patients, using immobilization when necessary. Calculate exposure factors, assist physicians.
  2. Perform the quality control functions related to mammography.
  3. Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic quality obtaining additional images as needed.
  4. Prepare and set up medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate. Explain procedures to patients.
  5. Develop mammographic film. Match with the appropriate paperwork for interpretation.
  6. Assist in maintenance and compilation of statistical data.
  7. Demonstrate proficiency in performing all breast imaging procedures, to include breast interventional procedures and ultrasound.
  8. Act in a team leader capacity on a routine basis.
  9. Monitor mammography section procedures and supply charges to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  10. Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.

Required Education and Experience

  1. ARRT certification in radiography
  2. ARRT advanced certification in mammography
  3. BLS certification
  4. 1 year of experience preferred
  5. Bilingual English/Spanish
  6. Graduate of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  7. Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills. 
  8. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, organizational skills, meeting deadlines, initiative, and process improvement.
  9. Ability to independently perform complicated and multiple tasks with minimal direction. 
  10. Ability to interpret and communicate results.
  11. Able to identify and resolve routine and complex problems. 
  12. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills by email, phone and in person.
