Qualifications

Position Summary

The Radiology Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative and applies his/her judgment to produce necessary documentation for interpretation for the ordered exam.

Essential Job Functions

1. Patient Assessment: Perform patient interviews to gather medical history and relevant information, ensuring patient safety and proper procedure planning. Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented. Position patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.

2. Equipment setup: Prepare and calibrate X-ray equipment, and ensure daily and weekly quality control measures are taken.

3. Imaging Procedures and Optimization: Conduct imaging studies using various techniques and protocols. 
Adjust equipment settings to obtain clear and accurate images, optimizing image quality and ensuring diagnostic value. Works closely with the radiologists to perform proper diagnostic testing when abnormalities are identified.

4. Data analysis: Analyze acquired images and recordings to identify abnormalities, measurements, and anomalies. Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated. Additionally, the tech is responsible for the processing of CT and MRI authorizations, as needed.

5. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of procedures, patient information, and image data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations.

6. Communication: Collaborate with radiologists to discuss findings and help in the development of treatment plans and diagnoses. Maintains accurate and precise documentation. Accurately record orders from physicians in the patient record.

7. Quality Assurance: Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks. Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to the modality.

8. Compliance: Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, policies, and protocols, including HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Maintains adherence to all company policies related to Compliance.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to work standing up, walk, use hands to operate tools and equipment and must be able to exert regularly up to 10 pounds of force, frequently exert 30 pounds of force and occasionally exert 50 pounds of force to constantly perform the essential job functions. The employee will be frequently required to reach with hands and arms, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is subject to noise; there may be sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Associate's degree or higher in a related field from an accredited program.
  2. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  3. Minimum 2 years of experience in outpatient diagnostic imaging facility or hospital required.

Preferred Education and Experience     

  1. Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  2. CPR Certificate preferred
  3. BLS Certification required.
  4. Must have a valid ARRT Registered Technologist license.
