Head Opti Coach

The Nantucket Yacht Club seasonal instructor team is composed of a group of highly qualified, energetic, and professional instructors. All of our instructors are certified to teach and coach sailing - whether by US Sailing, the Irish Sailing Association or equivalent. They are additionally certified in First Aid, CPR and SafeSport. Many of our instructors are top sailors on college sailing teams and/or sail recreationally or competitively in their free time all over the world. Some NYC instructors learned to sail right here on Nantucket and bring a wealth of local knowledge. Most importantly, all of our instructors love sailing - and love teaching sailing!

The Opti Head Coach is part of a collaborative team with Nantucket Community Sailing and Great Harbor Yacht Club.  The "All-Island" Opti Team trains every afternoon, working with 4-5 coaches and 10-15 Opti Sailors.  T The ideal candidate has experience in a clinic-type format working with multiple coaches

• Fun and energetic working with kids 

• Preferably minimum 21 Years of Age, though not essential if applicant has significant racing and coaching experience

• Intimate Knowledge of Opti Rigging, Technique, and Tuning

• Travel Program is similar to traveling with a college team, and requires maturity and responsibility from the individual traveling with the team. 

• US Sailing Level 1 Certification

• CPR / First Aid / SafeSport Certification
