SUMMARY

Over the ages, culture has been shaped by the arts, and the arts have been shaped by the church. At St. Andrew’s, we believe that the creative arts can still play an integral role in shaping the culture in which we live. To that end, we are seeking an innovative and passionate Director to lead the St. Andrew’s Creative Institute (SACI). The Director of SACI will provide leadership, strategic direction, and engagement of the congregation and community in the exploration of faith through creative disciplines such as music, dance, theater, art, and technical production.

CANDIDATE COMPETENCIES:

  • Minimum 5 years as an experienced leader within a multi-disciplined, creative arts setting, demonstrating the ability to oversee complex projects and diverse teams. 

  • Project management experience for events such as concerts, theatrical productions, art galleries and similar type performance venues. 

  • Proven history of growing teams and developing leaders. 

  • Strategic and administrative capacity for developing programs, systems and processes. 

  • Exceptional communicator, both written and verbal, as well as a builder of strong relationships. 

  • Proficient in computer technology and ability to learn and integrate software applications/systems. 

  • Business minded with a heart for ministry and the ability to work alongside “Creatives”. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report to Executive Director of Shaping Culture. 

  • Manage all aspects of SACI development and growth including both new and existing program offerings, curriculum, lesson plans and scheduling. 

  • Recruit and manage program instructors. 

  • Develop and manage program budget. 

  • Oversee fundraising efforts. 

  • Develop communication strategy for program promotion and branding. 

  • Ongoing communication with program participants, donors, congregation, and community. 

  • Work with Communications Team in development and maintenance of SACI webpage and content.  

  • Responsible for the creation and leadership of a SACI Advisory Board. 

  • Work with the Minister of Worship in the integration of SACI within the broader worship context of the church. 

  • Available for weekend and/or evening events as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English. 

  • Basic mathematical skills required. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and ratios. 

  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions given in written, verbal or diagram form. 

  • Problem solving ability in a technical environment and in high stress environments.
