SUMMARY

The Bus Driver will play a crucial role in our WATCH after-school program, ensuring the safe and punctual transportation of children from local schools to our program, as well as to occasional off-site activities or events. This position requires a dedicated individual committed to the safety and well-being of children, with a focus on maintaining a secure, timely, and friendly transportation service.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely transport children from their school to our WATCH after-school program, adhering to scheduled routes and time schedules.
  • Maintain a clean and mechanically-sound bus at all times, performing pre/post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure operational safety.
  • Develop and maintain positive and supportive relationships with children, parents, school personnel, and WATCH staff.
  • Follow local and state laws regarding child safety and school bus operation.
  • Manage any minor on-the-bus conflicts or issues in a calm, professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with WATCH policies, as well as state and federal regulations regarding school bus transportation.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Participate in state required ongoing trainings, drug screenings, and licensure.
  • Provide occasional transportation for field trips or special events outside regular hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements.
Clean driving record and background check.
Experience in driving school buses or similar vehicles.
Strong understanding of local traffic laws and the physical layout of the area.
Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and school staff.
First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
Commitment to providing a safe, caring environment for children.
Ability to work after-school hours and occasional weekends for special events.
 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Some college units preferred
