Job Summary - Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty:

The Department of Occupational Therapy at Methodist University seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track appointment. A strong preference will be given to candidates with a post-professional terminal degree and expertise in the following areas: pediatrics. The position includes teaching graduate-level occupational therapy courses. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidates will engage in clinical practice, student advisement, and service to the University. OTD faculty develop an agenda relative to research and/or scholarly activity for student capstone mentorship and involvement.

Methodist University is a private comprehensive institution grounded in the tradition of liberal arts. The academic program is in the Thomas R. McLean Health Sciences Building. The 38,800 square foot, facility has innovative classroom and laboratory spaces, research facilities, and an outdoor functional mobility courtyard to allow faculty to engage in hands-on learning activities and research agendas. Our program engages in active collaboration and learning with Physical Therapy, Nursing, Physician Assistant, Social Work, and the developing School of Medicine.

Qualifications

Education: 

A doctorate in occupational therapy or a related field is required.  Candidates who are near completion of a doctoral program will be considered. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues to develop, facilitate, assess, and document learning in doctoral-level OT students.

Experience:

The successful applicant will have a thorough understanding and knowledge of contemporary and evidence-based practice as it applies to the entry-level education of occupational therapists. The ideal candidate will have a record of at least one year of formal teaching experience.  National registration through NBCOT and clinical licensure (or eligibility) through the State of North Carolina as an occupational therapist is required. Candidates should have a minimum of three years prior experience working as an occupational therapist.
