Serves as a custodial team member responsible for the cleanliness of facilities that influence image and perception of the University. Follows directives of the custodial supervisors or housekeeping department officials responsible for the coordination and accomplishment of facility housekeeping operations or under the direct supervision of employees in a higher classification; perform duties in accordance with established standards and instruction.
Hours and shifts may vary based on need, must be flexible.
Must be able to work weekends.

Although this is an entry-level position, the role requires a high level of commitment and pride in work being performed. The daily activities include but are not limited to: following 7-step cleaning methods, adjusting cleaning techniques to meet the cleanliness standard, changing assignments, and interacting with teammates, students, staff and faculty professional.

TYPICAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Sweep, mop and scrub floors, stairs (interior) and other surfaces.
2. Use light (industrial type) floor machines and attachments.
3. Vacuum rugs in offices and public areas.
4. Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, door trim and chalk/white boards.
5. Wash window sills, glass in corridor doors, glass countertops, etc.
6. Wash glass and trim in entrance doors.
7. Wash and/or clean interior wall spaces by hand or with powered wall washing machine, working on ladders and scaffolding, as required.
8. Clean and service lavatories, toilet rooms and rest rooms.
9. Collect and place in containers or plastic bags trash and debris, place trash in collection area for removal by grounds team or designated personnel.
10. Replace liners in wastebaskets and trash containers.
11. Move/shift heavy (50lbs or less) furniture, supplies and miscellaneous equipment, as directed.
12. Report items that need repair (doors, door checks, furniture lights, faucets, etc.)
13. Respond to/remedy emergent/intermittent requests, i.e. water/plumbing issues, mold/mildew remediation using special equipment and products
14. Prepare venues for campus events, i.e. restrooms, auditorium, gymnasium, student center, seasonal athletics, academic facilities, etc.
15. Perform related duties, as assigned.
