SUMMARY:
Mayfield Junior School is seeking enthusiastic, flexible, and dedicated substitute teachers to provide high-quality instruction in the absence of the regular classroom teacher in grades K-8. The substitute teacher will ensure a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment for all students and follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher. A substitute teacher will be on call and support internal substitution needs as they arise. A substitute teacher should be prepared to follow substitution plans, take on typical day-to-day duties such as supervision duties, and engage in relevant school or division-wide events/experiences.
As with any teacher at Mayfield Junior School, there is an expectation that this person will be open to feedback, creative discussion, and child-centered in their approach. All teachers at Mayfield Junior School should familiarize themselves with the mission and vision statement and be prepared to actively teach with Holy Child goals in mind.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implement and follow lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher.

Create a learning environment that is positive, motivating and age appropriate, setting clear expectations for classwork and homework.

Encourages an inclusive classroom that accepts the different perspectives and backgrounds of the students and elicits a greater understanding of the world around them with a global perspective.

Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional periods.

Adapt instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Provide feedback to the classroom teacher and division director as needed regarding student behavior, performance, and any issues encountered during the day.

Follow school policies and procedures, including emergency protocols.

Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.

Be available for a minimum of 3 days a week.
