The Director of Children’s Healthcare Services is responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of systems that result in the provision of appropriate healthcare and nutritional services for Amego individuals. This includes the development and implementation of staff training in these systems and any necessary quality assurance activities. The DHS also assists the Executive Vice President of Healthcare Services ensuring Amego adheres to appropriate employee health standards and practices, participates in the development of policies and procedures regarding the health care issues for the individuals and the staff. S/he will understand that diversity is tied to the organization’s success.
Primary Job Duties Include:
External Relations Management
- Actively participates in efforts to enhance the social, economic, and cultural and health/safety needs of the people Amego serves.
- Assists the Executive Vice President of Healthcare Services and Vice President of Children’s Services to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards and ensure appropriate response to accrediting agencies and funding sources. Assists in being the point person for medical issues during licensing review, residential openings and admissions as directed.
Administration, Agency and Staff Development
- Carry out the Agency’s mission by implementing the policies established by Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
- Participate in a leadership role in strategic planning process and develop objectives and action plans to carry out a 3-5 year plan. Assume responsibility for implementation of the plan in partnership for programs and services.
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Vice President of Healthcare Services to support the development of accountability systems and monitor quality of individual agency programs, ensuring adherence to the agency’s service philosophy. Assist in overseeing the development and implementation of a comprehensive medical training for designated employees.
- Maintains status as a MA School Health Medication Delegation RN including the classes “Medication Administration in a School Setting: School Nursing Practice in Massachusetts” and attend the live online program “Medication Administration in Schools: What School Nurse Managers Need to Know” and assist the Executive Vice President of Healthcare Services to ensure the Agency adheres to all state regulatory requirements.
- Trains all designated children’s division staff on required medication delegation trainings and unique medical needs of students. Tracks and maintains an up-to-date list of all staff training dates.
- Provide effective direct supervision & support to assigned Children’s Division RN’s and LPN’s and ensure that their supervisory staff is providing supervision and support to their subordinates. Ensure that all staff are valued and treated fairly, with dignity and respect.
Healthcare Responsibilities
Ensures Children’s School and Residential Nurses conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of all assigned individuals as needed.
Assists School and Residential Nurses and Program Staff in ensuring individuals receive appropriate health and medical care and that there is complete and accurate information exchange vital to individual assessment and treatment planning. Assures proper systems and training in all health related areas.
S/he is an integral part of Amego’s orientation and ongoing medical/health training areas for the agency.

Assist the Executive Vice President of Healthcare Services design, monitor and modify healthcare policies and
procedures as needed
Participate in individual intake, discharge and support planning as needed. Attend ISP/IEP and other relevant
meetings/appointments as needed. Participate in the internal quarterly Case Review process at Amego. Participates with family/guardian/stakeholder meetings as needed.
Assist with infection control policies and procedures, PPE protocols and distribution and tracking. Coordinates with local Boards or Health, DPH, and/or school districts on infection control related issues as needed.
Pay Range Based on Experience and Education.
Pay Range: $91,500/yr-$95,500/yr
