Description

The Williamsport Home is seeking an individual with a green thumb whose primary responsibility will be maintaining the beauty of our campus. 

This position is a part-time, bargaining unit position. 

REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Help with outside groundwork—mulching, cutting grass, raking leaves, general spring clean-up/lawn care.
2. Perform daily routine maintenance tasks. Helps with room moves, furniture moves and special functions.
3. Available to respond to emergency and non-routine maintenance situations.
4. Must be capable of shoveling snow, use snow blower, spread anti-ice material as directed.
5. Must be responsible to maintain a safe working environment in all buildings.
6. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
7.Complete work as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school graduate or GED equivalency preferred.
2. Experience in a health-related facility preferred.
3. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
4. Must demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and government agencies/personnel and the general public.
6. Must possess a valid driver’s license and verifiable safe driving record.
7. Must successfully complete the required criminal background check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent hand, arm and finger use; standing, walking, bending, twisting (forward, downward, lateral and low), reaching and carrying, lifting, pulling and pushing various weights. Occasional climbing, stepping downward and crawling. Must be able to move throughout the building and grounds as needed throughout the day; must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Good visual and hearing acuity required; good verbal communication skills required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Frequent wet floors
2. Hard surface floors
3. Occasional dust, fumes and noise
4. Periodic hot, cold or cramped working conditions
5. Body fluid exposure – universal precautions
6. Required to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
