Collins has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Civil Site Project Engineer to play a key role on our team in our Salt Lake City, UT, office. The Civil Site Project Engineer performs high-level assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard and moderate engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Supervisor screens assignments for unusual complexities and selects non-routine techniques and procedures to be applied. The ideal candidate will have experience in site grading, drainage, utility design, and land development who can bring creative design practice and problem-solving skills balanced with a solid background in the field. Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and designs plans for site grading, drainage, paving, utilities, and roadways for public and private sector clients. Contributes significantly to projects of all sizes.
  • Prepares hydrology, earthwork, and roadway plans and profile evaluations.
  • Assists in collecting due diligence information and preparing concept site engineering plans.
  • Contributes significantly to the preparation of engineering reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Prepares submittals to state, municipal, and other agencies.
  • Applies judgment on design decisions and selects from standard engineering techniques and alternatives.
  • Makes independent decisions within a general framework and work within agreed upon timelines and budgets.
  • Keeps project engineer and project manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.
  • Responsible for small to moderately difficult projects from inception to completion.
  • Has some communication with clients.
  • Directs and supervises the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters, and administrative staff.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university, plus appropriate continuing education and a minimum of 2 years design experience.
  • Has proficient knowledge of hydrology, AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
  • Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) or Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification required
  • Valid driver's license.
