Job Summary: The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all the activities of a construction site according to project blueprints and schedule plans. This position must also coordinate subcontractors, as well as perform quality control and safety checks. This position plays a key role in managing projects from planning to completion and adheres to the customer’s standards.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of helpers, apprentices, journeymen, and foremen, including work schedules, project progress and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with clients, Project Managers, and other construction management teams to develop project plans, budget, and timelines.
  • Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers to ensure necessary resources are available for the project.
  • Create schedules for team members and subcontractors outlining important tasks and deadlines.
  • Attending Fire Marshall inspections on the job sites.
  • In support of resource allocation, hire additional subcontractors as needed and assign work accordingly.
  • Make changes in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines.
  • Implement management techniques of identifying opportunities for improving efficiency and reducing costs in construction process.
  • Attend weekly Work in Progress meetings to provide updates on project status, discuss challenges, and coordinate with stakeholders.
  • Assist designers and project managers as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 


 

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Applicable state journeyman license is required.
  • OSHA-30 is highly desired.
  • NICET II is desired.
  • Must have minimum 5 years’ experience managing fire sprinkler crews
  • Extensive knowledge of plumbing, pipefitting, and general construction is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic designs.
  • Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues.
  • Knowledge of construction budgeting best practices.
  • Good planning skills including design execution, resource allocation and contingencies.
  • In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal construction regulations.
  • Superior knowledge in NFPA 13 codes.
  • Great problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Organizational skills including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking.

 

 

 

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings, which can potentially expose employees to noise, dust, heat stress, thermal stress, low light conditions, heights, etc.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed, which would require use of fall protection equipment and other safety devices
  • Capable of using hand and power tools, including specialty tools resulting in cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening and other methods resulting in torque, vibration, noise, etc.
