Job Summary: The Shop Technician is responsible for providing support to the Hydro Pit team, working under the guidance of the Marine Supervisor. The primary responsibilities include assisting in coordinating and executing tasks related to the Pit department, with a focus on cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining DOT logs, managing inventory, and contributing to the optimization of customer satisfaction. This position involves hands-on technical tasks and collaboration with the Marine Supervisor to ensure efficient operations within the Hydro Shop / warehouse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to maintaining cleanliness and ensuring proper functioning of equipment.
  • Support the maintenance of safety standards and processing, including assisting with DOT logs and inventory withdrawal documentation.
  • Play a supportive role in setting and maintaining work schedules to ensure optimal customer service.
  • Collaborate on updating the Hydro Pit schedule to facilitate production planning.
  • Communicate and document issues or updates as necessary, providing necessary support.
  • Assist in updating job assignments in Service Trade for Hydro Pit personnel daily.
  • Support the completion and uploading of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) forms for all Hydro Pit jobs.
  • Contribute to managing Hydro Pit inventory levels on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Participate in monitoring and maintaining CO2 tank levels and communication.
  • Play a role in meeting all deadlines and communicating needs in advance
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • Highschool Diploma or Equivalent
  • South Carolina State Extinguisher License
  • DOT Certification
  • Proficiency in computer usage and internet navigation
  • Mechanical background, preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Fire Extinguisher Technician.
  • Clear and articulate English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s lice with a good driving record
  • Reliability and strong organizational skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to Multi-task and shift mindset often, Required.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings, which can potentially expose employees to noise, dust, heat stress, thermal stress, low light conditions, heights, etc.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed, which would require use of fall protection equipment and other safety devices
  • Capable of using hand and power tools, including specialty tools resulting in cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening and other methods resulting in torque, vibration, noise, etc.
