Job Summary: The Marine Service Technicians are responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of marine vessels by assisting in the performance of firefighting inspections according to US Coast Guard (USCG) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) codes. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in performing firefighting inspections per USCG and ABS Codes.
  • Learn and Understand the “Scope of Work” for all inspections.
  • Utilize smart device applications to manage / schedule inspection documentation.
  • Complete all required paperwork and upload to database.
  • Document required deficiencies and items required for repair.
  • Manage customer expectations to maintain excellent customer relations.

 

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • MUST have minimum high school diploma/GED
  • MUST have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • MUST have 2+ years experience Prior Marine/Offshore Fire Protection Experience
  • MUST have OEM certificates
  • MUST be able to work full time hours, with the possibility of unusual schedule hours as needed, along with overtime hours as needed, sometimes on short notice.
  • MUST be able to gain clearance to enter government work site
  • Travel may be needed, including international travel

Other Qualifications:

  • Good mechanical and electrical skills
  • High quality communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic safety standards with the ability to learn industry standards.
  • Self-motivated to learn codes and regulations associated with marine fire protection.
  • Effective customer service and communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Working knowledge of test equipment.
  • Strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and lift equipment.
  • Proficient in the use of computer programs such as Word, Excel, & Outlook and the ability to work on tablet/phone-based applications.
  • Good time-management skills.

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings, which can potentially expose employees to noise, dust, heat stress, thermal stress, low light conditions, heights, etc.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed, which would require use of fall protection equipment and other safety devices
  • Capable of using hand and power tools, including specialty tools resulting in cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening and other methods resulting in torque, vibration, noise, etc.
