GENERAL PURPOSE

Under limited supervision performs moderate repair and maintenance of industrial laundry, and other equipment at the work location also performs related work as assigned. Maintains, diagnoses, rebuilds, and repairs equipment, performs inspections and preventive maintenance. Records and reports any issues to the immediate leader.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must follow preventive safety protocol as established by the company
  • Demonstrate safety awareness throughout the workday
  • Able to replace electrical and mechanical components on machinery in a high-volume laundry with some direction
  • Learn to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks without supervision
  • Able to troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults in all laundry equipment with some direction
  • Able to perform all opening and closing tasks
  • Perform minor welding and plumbing work
  • Mentor Mechanic I on PM’s and basic troubleshooting, and open/close duties
  • Fill out parts request by looking up part in the manufacturer’s parts book, from the parts room shelf or online
  • Maintain all necessary logs in proper operational parameters
  • Perform minor project work as needed
  • Proactively work with the team to ensure efficient operation of the equipment
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferably (3) three years of experience and/or training in industrial/commercial laundry equipment repair and maintenance or any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in high places such as from a ladder or scissor/man-lift
  • Use of hand, power tools, and material moving equipment
  • Use of basic to intermediate diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to diagnose problems and make repairs
  • Operate all machinery and equipment for diagnostic purposes
  • Effectively lift and handle various objects weighing up to 60 pounds
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports on paper or electronic device
  • Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications
  • Acetylene and electric arc welding preferred but not required
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
