The Pension Boards Summer Internship Program is a ten-week paid internship that runs from June 2nd to August 8th. Our exclusive program will engage and select the brightest students from some of the best colleges in New York and beyond to experience and delve into the Pension Boards’ core areas of work including Investments, Finance, Customer Experience, Information Technology, Ministerial Assistance, Health Plans, Marketing and Communications. This opportunity provides students with:

Location – this program is a hybrid internship which is virtual and based out of our NYC Location – 475 Riverside Drive, near Columbia University and Barnard College. The Pension Boards does not offer reimbursements for relocation, housing or commuting costs.

 

What you’ll do:

  • The Pension Boards is a thought leader in faith-based, responsible investing.  As a leader, the organization has had ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) screens for many years, has been engaging with companies, integrating managers with a focus on ESG, and investing in impact funds.  We are looking for someone to develop a good understanding of our ESG and impact investing practices and their effect to our investments.
  • The PBUCC is a signatory to UNPRI. We have analyzed our recent scores and begun the work of prioritizing our efforts to improve in areas important to PBUCC in its SR initiatives. The intern will participate in these efforts; examining best practices and identifying gaps.
  • Work with the internal core fixed income team (manages 1 billion dollars US) to analyze their sustainable bond portfolio and ESG research.
  • Conduct research on key ESG issues and identify any material portfolio risk exposures.
  • Develop materials to communicate the Pension Boards incorporation of Sustainability across all our asset classes.
  • Gather and analyze sustainability data to share with management.
  • Work with cross functional teams including the investment team, fixed income team, and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility.
  • Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with colleagues.
  • Perform other related duties as requested

 

Qualifications

What you’ll need:

  • Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Business, or related discipline preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think and work independently within a professional setting
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Familiarity and experience with Sustainability rankings and rating through MSCI, Sustainalytics and other ESG ratings and rankings preferred.
  • Strong demonstrable and active interest in sustainability.
  • Flexibility to work within a multiple disciplinary team and receive dynamic on-the-job training
  • Highly organized; ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
