The Pension Boards Summer Internship Program is a ten-week paid internship that runs from June 2nd to August 8th, 2025. Our exclusive program will engage and select the brightest students from some of the best colleges in New York and beyond to experience and delve into the Pension Boards’ core areas of work, including Investments, Finance, Member Services, Information Technology, Health Plans, Marketing and Communications. This opportunity provides students with:

Location – this program is a hybrid internship that is both virtual and based out of our New York City location at 475 Riverside Drive, near Columbia University and Barnard College. The Pension Boards does not offer reimbursements for relocation, housing, or commuting costs.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with the Pension Boards’ department stakeholders in developing communications and/or educational collateral to support a variety of organizational initiatives and campaigns.
  • Assist in developing web article content, including promoting the Summer Internship Program.
  • Develop social media posts about weekly intern program activities.
  • Gather written and video testimonials for use on social media
  • Assist in creating resource materials and/or promotional videos.
  • Work with team members on project plans.  
  • Work with cross-functional teams to solve a business problem from ideation to launch.
  • Ad hoc reporting and analytics.

Qualifications

What you’ll need:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field of study
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative graphic design skills
  • Strong writing skills and interest in writing social media content or web articles
  • Video production skills for brief video ads is preferred, but is not necessary
  • Ability to think and work independently within a professional setting
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong understanding of Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
  • Strong understanding of web design and content management
  • Flexibility to work within a multi-disciplinary team and receive dynamic on-the-job training
  • Highly organized; ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
