Summary:

Assigned to Falcon Drilling’s Air Package Rental Service Department, the Airhand position is primarily responsible for the operations and maintenance of Company owned hole-cleaning & circulation equipment used in air-drilling applications, air boosters, air compressors, fluid pumps, and related instrumentation. Person(s) obtaining this position will work closely with, and often at the direction of, the Client and other third party contracted services. This role is crucial in overseeing safe and efficient operation of said equipment in accordance with Falcon Drilling policy and procedure.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Rig up/down equipment including but not limited to air lines, fluid lines, electrical lines, and instrumentation.
  • Operate Falcon Drilling owned equipment per Company and manufacture policy and procedure.
  • Operate mobile heavy machinery including but not limited to rough terrain telehandlers, wheeled loaders, and ariel lifts.
  • Mix wet and/or dry chemicals for hole conditioning and circulation.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and scheduled routine maintenance per Company and manufacture policy and procedure.
  • Comply with safety standards and expectations as set forth by Company, Client, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide written and verbal communications pertaining but not limited to shift tasking, operations, equipment issues, and safety concerns.
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in designated work areas and living quarters.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of air-drilling operations including but not limited to equipment operation and maintenance, downhole tools and drilling practices, cuttings identification, and well control
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations related to air-drilling operations
  • Ability to work well with others and work independently when required
  • Basic troubleshooting skills
  • Basic computer skill with navigation and use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in air-drilling applications.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ in Airhand or related position.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education preferred.
  • Valid state-issued driver license with clean Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Able to read, write, and understand English.

 

 

Work Conditions & Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to perform work outside with prolonged exposure to the environment, both hot and cold.  Operations could also involve prolonged exposure to wet or damp conditions i.e., working in rain, snow, and sleet.
  • 12-13 hours/day, 14 days on/ 14 days off rotation.
  • Vigorous manual labor required.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment up to 80 pounds frequently.
  • Long periods of standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching or similar activities may be necessary in tight spaces as well as elevated heights

Travel:

  • 100% travel to remote locations where job duties are to be performed
  • Lodging accommodations on-site or off-site
  • Job site locations are subject to extremely rural areas with limited accessibility to cellular services, grocery stores, restaurants, leisure, and other perceived necessities

 

Conclusion:

The Airhand position is an operations laborer role. Person(s) obtaining this position will always act in the best interest of the Company by representing the Company values with integrity while maintaining the highest ethical and legal standards with all interactions. The Airhand will work under the direction of the on-site Client representative while providing air to other contracted services pertaining to the air-drilling operation. The Airhand’ s direct supervisor is the Operations Manager.
