Description

Summary:

The Auger Rig Operator I is primarily responsible for operating Falcons Auger Rig(s) equipment and supervising a work crew. The Auger Rig Operator I is responsible for executing the drilling program in a safe and efficient manner under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Observe pressure gauge and move throttles and levers to control the speed of rotary tables, and to regulate pressure of tools and bottoms of boreholes
  • Count sections of drill rod to determine depths of boreholes
  • Works with Operations Manager to ensure that assigned crews are properly trained in accordance with company requirements.
  • Acts as the liaison between Operations Manager and crew communicating any issues or concerns during shift.
  • Understands and demonstrates the safe handling, proper application, and proper disposal of drilling fluids.
  • Ensures all equipment is properly maintained.
  • Conducts periodic inspections of the auger rig and rig location, identifying issues regarding safe and efficient operations of the auger rig, and makes timely recommendations to rectify any noted problems.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation (i.e. reports, logs, etc.) in accordance with company policy.
  • Advises the Operations Manager of changing well condition and severe weather conditions or other environmental factors that would inhibit operations.

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

  • Team Player
  • Working knowledge of I.A.D.C. and M.S.D.S. regulations
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse group of people

Qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent, or as deemed sufficient by Management.
  • 3-5 years previous auger rig experience with at least 6 months experience
    as an auger rig operator or equivalent experience deemed sufficient by management.
  • BOP Certified
  • First Aid and CPR certified

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Varying field work conditions including uneven ground, dusty work areas and varying weather conditions. (Proper professional protective equipment (PPE) will be required)
