To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in education, fitness and recreation, sports management, or exercise science
- Demonstrated experience at the collegiate level of stunting, spotting, tumbling, cheerleading, choreography and mascot training.
- Ability to clearly articulate the role competitive cheerleading and sideline and spirit activities play in the holistic development of the student participant and recruit new students to the University.
- Expert knowledge of sport safety standards in addition to USA Cheer rules and regulations
- Strong commitment to the academic success of student-athletes
- Exceptional leadership and strong organizational skills; professional, business, and leadership acumen
- Excellent communication with players, recruits, and parents; understanding the demanding academic climate at UHSP; ability to assess student behavior/athletic ability; appropriate behavior befitting an empathetic authority figure in a university setting
- Superior communication skills and ability to appropriately use business and social media platforms as well knowledge of and access to standard business technology
- Cheerleading Coach certification preferred.
- Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations is preferred
- Driver’s license and transportation for off-campus practice facilities
- Ability to demonstrate necessary skills for the sport
- Physical skills required to teach drills and demonstrate plays
- Ability to transport or move necessary equipment for use at practices and games
- Demonstrate alignment with University values of discovery, diversity, inclusion, integrity, respect, and service.
