About the position

The Assistant General Manager at theWit Hotel is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of State and Lake Chicago Tavern. This role requires strong leadership skills to ensure that service standards are maintained or exceeded, enhancing the brand and guest satisfaction. The position involves managing staff, operational efficiency, and guest services in a high-volume restaurant and nightclub environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure SLCT operations maintain or exceed service standards to enhance the brand, image, culture and values of theWit in all phases of the operation.
  • Manage operational efficiency, quality of service standards, noise levels, and overall impact of the venue on guest satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints with attention to detail and quality of service.
  • Schedule weekly shifts, recognizing staffing needs and managing requests on as well as data input in Paycom Time & Attendance.
  • Communicate successfully with SLCT Employees, Management, senior executives, Fire and Health Inspectors, emergency service personnel, vendors, and high-profile guests.
  • Provide exceptional guest service that differentiates the venue from the competition.
  • Practice proper cash handling procedures and nightly reporting.
  • Articulate Wit and departmental happenings in daily Stand-Up meetings.
  • Facilitate and execute banquet events in compliance with service standards and banquet event orders.
  • Make quick decisions and delegate responsibilities while managing multiple tasks in a high-paced environment.
  • Conduct weekly beverage inventory, ordering, and cost analysis utilizing Bevinco reports.
  • Implement and participate in social media marketing campaigns for SLCT.
  • Manage, schedule shifts, train restaurant staff, and monitor staff performance.
  • Maintain organization and upkeep of the venue storage area.
  • Be available to work all shifts, holidays, weekends, and long hours.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience managing a high-volume restaurant or nightclub.
  • Experience with direct reports including managers, supervisors, doormen, floor hosts, bussers, bartenders, and cocktail servers.
  • Knowledge of Micros POS, Avero Slingshot, Coyle Secret Shoppers, Bevintel, Paycom, and Hotschedules is a plus.
  • Understanding of service etiquette and standard practices for full-service restaurants, nightclubs, and corporate events.
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation practices for food and beverage service.
  • Extensive knowledge of beer, wine, champagne, and alcoholic beverages.

  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
