POSITION OVERVIEW:
Join La Familia’s Family Reunification Therapy Program (FRTP) and make a meaningful impact in the lives of families impacted by incarceration or the justice system. We are looking for a staff therapist who is passionate about supporting families in the realignment process, thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to develop expertise in family therapy and with reunification of families that are impacted by incarceration.
- Work under supportive leadership - Operate under the guidance of the Program Supervisor and the Director of Adult Outpatient Behavioral Health, to ensure provision of high-quality therapeutic services
- Provide meaningful therapy - offer family and group therapy and facilitation of psychoeducational and support groups for adults, children, and families to foster connection, healing, restoration, and resilience.
- Engage with the community - lead workshops, participate in outreach events, and help foster spaces where community members can seek support and connection.
- Deliver high quality mental health services including:
- Crisis intervention
- Strengths-based, and family-based assessment and treatment in an outpatient setting
- Family-centered treatment planning to support restoration, healing, and building capacities for families.
- Peer, child, and caregiver psychoeducation, parenting, and support groups
- Collaborate for client success – work closely with interdisciplinary teams (La Familia staff, , key stakeholders, community organizations, department of probation, and important community and family members)

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Direct Services
- Conducts assessments of assigned families to gather information pertinent to appropriate treatment, referrals and to gather necessary reporting data
- Provides individual and group psychotherapy in alignment with monthly goals.
- Provides psychoeducation groups like self-care and positive parenting to support families
- Facilitates holistic and behavioral workshops for the community/clients to engage the community around rising themes and needs.
- Works to engage families in treatment; is available to provide services at multiple sites - multiple clinic sites, client homes, and community settings including evenings, as indicated by client needs.
- Meets with clients and families for regular therapy; guides the family in understanding family dynamics and contributing personal, social, and economic factors; assists family in finding their own solutions and supporting parents in parenting and in collaborating effectively with one another even through the family transition.
- Advises client/family on community resources to support needs arising; makes referrals and other arrangements as necessary.
- Connects participants and provides “warm hand-offs” to other community-based providers to the greatest extent possible, including following up on internal and external referrals.
Documentation and Compliance
- Complies fully with agency policies and procedures and maintains HIPPA guidelines.
- Submits records of service information and tracking consistent with program policies using electronic health records systems and agency systems.
- Follows appropriate charting and documentation requirements and agency regulations in a timely manner and follows all database policies and procedures.
- Provides input and feedback on potential related projects/programs, as appropriate.
- Supports agency-wide Quality Improvement efforts.
- Participates in on-going quality assurance training and is engaged in on-going chart review processes
Clinical Service
- Works effectively with staff and other health professionals to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and improve family care.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with practice standards and regulations applicable to the area of specialty.
- Is competent to access facility information systems to retrieve and utilize pertinent information for the provision of patient care or in the performance of other job-related responsibilities.
- Provides culturally informed and relevant education to families with a developmentally and culturally appropriate lens, is aware of various environmental and psychological impacts of societal, cultural and social determinants of health on the family and assessment..
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with the recipients of family services.
- Develops evidence-based intervention plans specific to the service delivery goals.
- Implement interventions informed by the current scientific literature, assessment findings, diversity characteristics, and contextual variables.
- Demonstrates the ability to apply the relevant research literature to clinical decision making.
- Modifies and adapts evidence-based approaches effectively when a clear evidence-base is lacking.
- Evaluates intervention effectiveness and adapts intervention goals and methods consistent with ongoing evaluation.
Other
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Provides services to clients in the clinical setting, in the community, and in client homes as needs indicate and in collaboration with clinical and program supervisor and team.
