POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Staff Therapist is assigned to Stan Connect, a unique program with an emphasis in community engagement, collaboration, and support to families and individuals in Riverbank, Airport District, and West Modesto. The Staff Therapist will work with the Promotoras and Mental Health Specialist to provide them with consultation and coordination of treatment services.  The Staff Therapist will also assist with planning and carrying out community outreach activities including walkabouts to raise awareness about services and resources. The Staff Therapist will practice cultural humility and evidence based approaches to build trust and rapport with community members. The Staff Therapist will collaborate with government agencies, community-based organizations, and partners to benefit the communities we serve. The Staff Therapist will meet deliverable expectations and requirements of the program. This role will uphold and champion the agency’s mission, vision, and values and contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work culture.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: 

Outreach, Coordination, and Services:

  • Plan and coordinate community events, wellness fairs and outreach activities to increase awareness about services and resources.
  • Use strength-based approaches to engage and connect with the community by scheduling and conducting walkabouts.  
  • Develop and maintain rapport with participants and maintain rapport and trust through consistent, regular meetings, including proactively communicating and soliciting updates from participants and consistent use of motivational and supportive approaches.
  • Provide timely, thoughtful, evidenced-based and culturally responsive responses to participants and all partners.
  • Consult and work with the team on assessments and services.
  • Create and manage progress toward collaborative service plans with each individual/family based on their unique goals and barriers.
  • Create and implement tools to ensure regular communication between the participant and all providers, increasing preparation and attendance for all appointments.
  • Provide social service, benefit enrollment referrals, and follow up to ensure referral utilization, with an emphasis on reducing stressors and barriers to general care.
  • Support participant access to new providers where there is an unmet need.
  • May complete psychological evaluations of assigned clients; determines appropriate diagnostic procedures and tests, clinical interviews with clients to develop information pertinent to diagnosis and treatment.
  • Develop evidence-based intervention plans specific to the service delivery goals.
  • Evaluate intervention effectiveness and adapt intervention goals and methods consistent with ongoing evaluation.
  • Uses cultural humility and evidenced based approaches to provide individual and group psychotherapy.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Complies with all agency’s policies and procedures and maintains strict HIPPA guidelines.
  •  Submits records of service information and tracking consistent with program policies.
  • Follows appropriate charting and documentation requirements and agency regulations in a timely manner.
  • Provides input and feedback on potential related projects/programs, as appropriate.
  • Supports agency-wide Quality Improvement efforts.

Other 

  • Collaborates with their supervisor and/or staff therapist to develop overall program design, implementation, evaluation, and strategic planning and program growth.
  • Supports the writing and submission of all necessary documents and reports to funders by deadlines.
  • Provides mentorship and training to other team members, as appropriate.
  • Acts as a proxy for program leadership at funder meetings when program leadership is out of the office.
  • Attend trainings and participate in events relevant to key responsibilities
  • Track and regularly report on key metrics for responsible function areas
  • Leads and collaborate on special projects related to agency objectives as appropriate 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate degree in social work, psychology or related field, and registration with the California BBS/BOP (e.g. PhD, PSYD, LCSW, MFT, ASW, and AMFT) or currently enrolled in a graduate program for mental health and having completed half of the program.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of modern clinical psychology, including abnormal psychology, personality theory, diagnostic interviewing, psychotherapy - including brief therapy and behavior change, basics of case management, systems theory, family therapy, community psychology, and community mental health.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated team and the capacity to be flexible, as needs and special events arise.
  • Ability to determine the needs of individual situations regarding diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, taking an effective course of action, and follow through with effective treatment plans.
  • Excellent speaking and writing abilities.
  • Knowledge of use of computer systems such as Salesforce or similar database applications.
  • Ability to pass background clearance and clear TB Test.  
  • Non-Profit and Community Based Organization experience highly desirable.
  • Demonstrates and models excellent “customer service” orientation, especially in the ability to interact with people at all levels within and outside the agency.
  • Thinks independently and can make informed decisions when needed. 
  • Exercises extreme discretion with the ability to hold, balance and transmit public and confidential information needed by various parties. 
  • Proficient using MS Office products, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Acquires or maintains proficiency in using Google Drive products, including Docs, Sheets, and Forms.
  • Valid CA Driver’s license
    • Auto insurance:  Personal vehicle may be used for business related purposes; it is recommended you inform your auto insurance carrier.
