Position Summary

The Community Engagement Manager - District 11 oversees all facets of the volunteer experience and recruitment and retention of girls and adults in their assigned geographic area. The position represents and promotes Girl Scouting in the community through collaboration and networking, to ensure the Girl Scout program is accessible to girls across all demographic groups.

The District 11 territory is rural-based and includes public, charter, and private schools in the following Missouri counties: Ste. Genevieve, St. Francois, Washington, Iron and Reynolds.

At Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, most of our roles work in a hybrid capacity (in office, remote, and/or in the field). Details will be provided during the interview process.

The position is full time with a competitive starting minimum annual salary at $46,066.

Essential Job Duties

  • Research market data and other pertinent information to gain knowledge of demographics, community needs, and possibilities for girl and adult recruitment.
  • Create and implement short- and long-term strategies for the recruitment and retention of new girl and adult membership.
  • Hold community recruitment events for registration and placement of new members.
  • Represent and promote Girl Scouting in the community, building community awareness by highlighting the benefits of membership to the public.
  • Build a rapport/relationship with schools within the jurisdiction.
  • Oversee the volunteer experience for all participating adults in assigned area, providing a high level of support for all volunteer roles.
  • Serve as a collaborative team member, working to advance the mission of Girl Scouts.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain such within 6 months of employment
  • Valid state driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of the sales environment, including sales and marketing techniques, networking, goal-setting, and cold calling.
  • Strong leadership skills, with good active listening skills and the ability to effectively motivate people.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, databases, registration systems, and other general office equipment.
  • Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to speak and present confidently and credibly in public.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers, and to represent the organization in a professional manner.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in an environment of confidential data, and keep information confidential and private.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (days, evenings, weekends) and travel throughout the jurisdiction.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time operating a computer, including navigating websites, software platforms, spreadsheets and both electronic and paper documents.

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copier, and computer printer.

Occasionally positions self to maintain files in file cabinets.

May need to move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds across office for various needs.

The ability to observe details at close range and at a distance.

Is required to drive/operate an automobile.

 

Work Environment

Constantly works in an indoor professional office environment. Exposed to moderate noise levels.
