Position Summary

The Assistant Director, Food & Beverage at Westhaven Golf Club will assist in management and facilitation of dining and beverage services to include; dining room, turn grille operation, beverage cart, and banquet execution.

Essential Functions

  • Personalized member service.
  • Direct supervision of front of house staff, including turn grille & beverage cart staff.
  • Scheduling of all front of house employees, beverage cart and turn grille staff.
  • Recommends the hiring, counseling, and termination of employees.
  • Completion of payroll, tips, and banquet event service charge for all Front of House and Turn Grille staff.
  • Direct responsibility for organization of all banquet storage, linen closet and all other closets including electrical room and paper supplies area.
  • Direct responsibility of all beverage inventory control.
  • In coordination with Director of F&B and Bar Supervisor, maintain innovative beverage program.
  • Training and on-boarding new Front of House dining service employees.
  • Audit of member checks to ensure accuracy at the end of each shift.
  • Closing duties and managers checklist.
  • Assist with inventory of china, glass, silver, and banquet equipment.
  • Assist with execution of all banquet and catering functions.
  • Answering of phones & assisting with member greeting when concierge is not on duty.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Service heart.
  • Ability to read and speak English.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Understanding of new food, liquor, beer, and wine trends.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy when working with members and staff.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints, as well as the ability to deal with frequent interruptions, unresolved situations, frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Ability to keep sensitive information highly confidential.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Hosts, Servers and Server Assistants

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years of restaurant and banquet experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • TABC Certified, Serve Safe Certified desirable
