The Director of Facilities & Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the repair, installation, and upkeep of all WCDG & affiliate facilities and equipment, including the MV Malaspina. This role ensures that all buildings, mechanical systems, utilities, and landscapes are properly maintained and in full working order. This role is also responsible for designing maintenance procedures, including procedures for work order management, and conducting facility inspections to identify and resolve issues efficiently. Additional responsibilities include trail clearing, landscape maintenance, and ensuring a safe and operational environment across all properties.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train maintenance staff and mechanics.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the department, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Manage employee discipline and terminations in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities
Facilities & Equipment Maintenance
- Oversee maintenance and repairs for all facilities, including water, power, heating, sewer, roofing, sprinkler systems, fire alarms, restrooms, and kitchen facilities.
- Serve as the primary contact for fire department coordination and nightly security patrols.
- Ensure the operational efficiency of electrical equipment and mechanical systems through routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and timely repairs.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for facility maintenance, renovations, and construction projects.
- Develop and implement workplace safety policies and standards, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of company premises and facilities.
Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance
- Oversee all vehicle and small engine maintenance, including tour assets, outboard motors, shuttle buses, forklifts, and other equipment.
- Supervise mechanics and shop operations, ensuring all maintenance and repair work is performed safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
- Manage daily inspections and work orders, coordinating with departments to ensure vehicles remain operational for revenue-generating activities.
- Ensure mechanics maintain fleet maintenance schedules, oil changes, brake inspections, tire replacements, electrical repairs, and engine diagnostics to prevent mechanical failures.
- Make certain mechanics adhere to preventive maintenance protocols and perform timely troubleshooting and repairs.
- Establish and maintain standards for an organized and efficient mechanics shop, ensuring tools, parts, and equipment are stocked, accounted for, and properly stored.
- Enforce shop safety standards, including hazardous materials handling, fire prevention, and compliance with workplace safety regulations.
Management & Compliance
- Develop and manage the facilities and maintenance department budget, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency.
- Monitor expenses, project costs, and resource allocation to maintain optimal spending levels, ensuring proper coding and receipt of documentation to accounting.

Certifications/Licenses
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, meeting the requirements of the company’s auto insurance carrier.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Current TWIC card or ability to obtain.
- Current Forklift Operator Certificate or ability to obtain.
