Are you passionate about creating impactful programs that inspire leadership, teamwork, and community involvement? Join our team as a Program Specialist and help shape the future of Girl Scouts by organizing events and trips that empower girls to lead with courage, confidence, and character.

Primary Responsibilities

Event Planning and Delivery:
•    Design and host large-scale events (300+ participants) aligned with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) framework.
•    Collaborate with staff to create inclusive and engaging event concepts for diverse Girl Scout groups.
•    Oversee logistics such as venue selection, catering, and supplies.
•    Develop interactive program curricula suitable for different age groups.
•    Recruit and coordinate adult volunteers to assist with event execution.
Logistics and Operations:
•    Manage event budgets responsibly, adhering to organizational guidelines.
•    Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams for seamless execution.
•    Prepare contingency plans to address unexpected challenges.
Council-Sponsored Trips:
•    Plan and execute a minimum of three large trips annually, handling all logistics including transportation, accommodations, and activities.
•    Ensure trips are safe, enjoyable, and aligned with the GSLE framework.
•    Manage trip budgets and recruit volunteers for support.
Evaluation and Reporting:
•    Gather participant feedback to evaluate event success.
•    Prepare detailed reports on outcomes and use insights to enhance future programming.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
•    Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
•    Effective presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office and teleconferencing tools (Teams, Zoom, Google Classroom).
•    Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
•    Flexibility to adapt to changing plans and locations.
•    Outstanding customer service skills for working with volunteers and staff.
•    Ability to work effectively with people of all ages.
•    Regular access to reliable transportation for regular travel across Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital jurisdiction.
•    Availability for frequent evening and weekend events, meetings, and site visits.
Preferred Qualifications:
•    Experience with Girl Scouts or familiarity with volunteer structures (e.g., Service Units).
•    Skills in virtual event planning and facilitation.
•    Proficiency with Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
•    Marketing or communication experience.
•    Background in community relations or business development is a plus.

The starting salary for this position is $52,000.
