Machine Operator

Job Title: Manual Machinist
Reports To: Machining Leads

SUMMARY:
Machinists make parts and components for food grade processing equipment. This requires skill, ability and an understanding of safety measures while operating machining tools to manufacture parts for the food grade processing equipment. The functions of a Machinist will be performed under moderate supervision in a timely manner and with acceptable quality.

JOB DUTIES:
• Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output
• Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping
• Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
• Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job
• Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues
• Determine and program size of batches and speed of machine
• Monitor output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects
• Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

• Demonstrated attention to detail
• Knowledge of hand tool operation
• Must be mechanically inclined
• Ability to learn complete working knowledge of PPM Technologies Holdings products, processed and procedures
• Ability to read, interpret technical drawings
• Must be able to lift 60 lbs. (occasionally 75 lbs.). comfortably and repeatedly be able to stand, bend, stoop without restriction for long periods.
• Required to talk or hear regularly
• Required to stand, walk, user hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Education or Experience:

• Highschool diploma or Equivalent is required
