Description

We are seeking an Associate Director of Finance and Administration, who will be curious, driven, organized, program-minded, and a firm believer in the importance of quality data. The Associate Director will report to the Vice President of Finance and Administration. The Associate Director’s mission is to provide cross-cutting financial and administrative support to the Council’s 16 programs and centers as part of the Office of Finance and Operations. Preference will be given to candidates with an understanding of the Atlantic Council’s work and a belief in our mission.


This position is based in our Washington, DC, headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in office. The Atlantic Council offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, education, and organizational equity, with offers from $85,000 to $114,000. Applications submitted by May 9, 2025, will be prioritized for consideration.


Job responsibilities

Program Financial Management

  • Provide direct, fractional finance and development support to select programs and centers, including:
  • Conduct monthly revenue and expense transaction reviews, update budget and reforecast inputs, and participate in monthly or quarterly finance meetings.
  • Support grant financial report transaction tagging and review.
  • Coordinate with Revenue Operations colleagues to draft and finalize gift agreements, request donor invoices, and follow-up with funders on Accounts Receivable collection.
  • Create, update, and maintain program Salesforce opportunities to ensure an accurate pipeline.
  • Support identified programs with issuing vendor service agreements, payment requests, and reconciling credit card and expense reports.

Revenue Operations Support

  • Serve as backup to outsourced revenue operations team for mail and check processing, in-house production efforts, and other functions that require coordination of physical facilities.
  • Manage revenue operations vendor contracts, including tracking service agreements, deliverables, and payments.
  • Support outsourced revenue operations team and Vice President of Finance and Administration with revenue operations training and updating standard operating procedures, as needed.
  • Support Vice President of Finance and Administration with budgeting and reforecasting for revenue operations team.

Due Diligence

  • Serve as project manager for due diligence process for new and renewed funders.
  • Lead due diligence research for foreign entities, including foreign governments and corporations.
  • Collaborate with outsourced revenue operations provider to complete research reports for US entities.

Public Sector Administration

  • Advise programs and development colleagues on public sector compliance, including US government and foreign government awards.
  • Provide strategic support to ensure award funding is fully utilized and achievement of optimum cost recovery.
  • Ensure CRM is utilized to track and meet reporting requirements.
  • Support finance team with single audit, program audit, and incurred cost submission requests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with creating and customizing CRM reports.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Experience

  • Ability to work in a cross-cutting role across program, finance, and development teams.
  • Familiarity with fundraising CRM operations, experience with Salesforce strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with navigating financial and accounting systems to retrieve data.
  • Experience with developing and managing budgets.
  • Ability to understand, communicate, and apply financial policies and processes.
  • Familiarity with gift documentation standards, including formal donor agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess operational needs, prioritize among competing needs, and align and move others toward agreed-upon goals.
  • Understanding of public sector compliance and regulations including 2 CFR 200 and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Highly organized, with ability to work in a dynamic environment and on multiple projects simultaneously.
