Deerwood Bank is hiring a full-time Human Resources Generalist to work in its Mendota Heights branch. A hybrid work environment may be available. This position is responsible for the administration of the talent acquisition process, leave of absence management processes, and the HRIS & payroll systems. This position will assist with the onboarding/orientation of new employees and serve as a contact for employees with questions regarding policies, procedures, and benefits. Additionally, this position will be assisting with HR related projects that enhance the organization’ strategic objectives.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Â
Payroll Processing (weekly and bi-weekly payrolls)
- Complete the pre-processing work for payroll (i.e., verifying approvals of timecards, benefits, wages, taxes, garnishments/levies, direct deposits, etc., entering commissions/incentives, running reports).
- Complete the post-processing work for payroll (i.e., send reports, upload data to vendor sites)

Talent Acquisition Administration
- Develop and maintain the talent acquisition process for all positions.
- Act as the repository for the Employee Requisition form.
- Post openings in HRIS and Indeed.com as well as provide information to the Marketing department for other posting locations.
- Assist in the review of applications/resumes for open positions, as needed.
- Perform phone screen/interviews for candidates, as needed.
- Prepare offer letters for candidates based on the information in the Job Offer Details form.
- Coordinate online onboarding with candidates.
- Send employees a welcome gift to the appropriate branch.
Â
Leave of Absence Management
- Coordinate leave of absences with employees and managers.
- Prepare the required leave of absence paperwork, if necessary.
- Ensure time off requests are entered accurately in HRIS.
- Track time off and communicate with employees on LOA, as required.
Â
HRIS Administration
- Scan and import employee files/records into HRIS.
- Follow-up on requests for missing documents (i.e., onboarding, annual policy reviews, performance appraisals, etc.)
- Update information as necessary (i.e., next review dates, job descriptions, etc.)
- Respond appropriately to agencies requesting verification of employment.

Miscellaneous
- Assist with the administration of the benefits program. Serve as main contact for employee questions on benefit enrollment issues.
- Benefit invoice reconciliation, as needed.
- Update and maintain job descriptions.
- Maintain HR SharePoint page including birthday and anniversaries listings.
- Prepare information for regulatory and audit requests, as needed.
- File government reports (i.e., EEO-1, Vets 100, Affirmative Action Plan)
- Update Opensense with employee names, titles, addresses, phone numbers for email signatures.
- Interpret policies and procedures for new and existing employees.
- Update and maintain procedures for HR department responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

Independent Judgment:
The incumbent in this position will make decisions regarding policy interpretation and will make some decisions in the absence of the Director of Human Resources. The incumbent will use independent judgment when answering employee questions not clearly covered by Bank policies and procedures and must always maintain confidentiality.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Necessary:
- A high school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.
- 3 years of Human Resources & payroll experience preferred.
- Significant payroll processing experience.
- Experience with ATS, Benefits, Performance Management, Expense Mgmt., & Time and Attendance systems/modules.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to research new or best practices for new methods/procedures and put together recommendations for improvements.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate at a high level with others.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, Teams.Â
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel to Deerwood Bank’s 14 locations on an as needed basis; typically, once per year.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws pertaining to employment situations preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills necessary to administer policies and programs in a manner that will conform to state and federal laws and regulations preferred.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, with additional hours based on business needs.
Hiring Pay Rate: $60,000-$70,000 per year.
