What we're looking for:

Acumera is a leader in providing converged infrastructure solutions to the retail and hospitality industry. Our customers are some of the largest and best known global store, restaurant, and hospitality brands. Our solution is built on a cutting edge Linux based virtualization stack that features total management through a devops driven infrastructure. We design, develop, and maintain a software stack that includes a core virtualization solution built on Debian Linux with Docker, and KVM, with supporting management code built in Puppet and Ruby. Our back-end management environment includes Ruby, Rails, and Redis components. The Systems Engineer performs production systems integration work involving Linux, networking, open source tools, and automation to implement our solutions. This position is open to local Texas or Florida candidates. We have offices located in Austin, Texas and Tallahassee, Florida. This role requires hybrid flexibility with 2-3 days a week onsite. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with clients and project managers to implement the Acumera Reliant Edge Platform for new and existing clients
  • Create/Maintain Cloud infrastructure for client deployments via Terraform in AWS
  • Develop and maintain automated build solutions utilizing jenkins.
  • Demonstrate best-practice knowledge and apply skills to deliver an effective solution specific to client needs.
  • Interface with DevOps team on projects for clients as well as perform QA.
  • Travel to client sites may be required

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 2+ years’ experience working with Linux based operating systems via CLI
  • 1+ years’ experience working with medium to large scale production environments
  • 1+ years’ experience working with Cloud services
  • 1+ years’ experience working with Configuration management tools (e.g. Puppet/Chef/Ansible/CFEngine)
  • 2+ years’ experience working with virtualization technologies (e.g. Docker, KVM, VMWare)
  • 1+ years’ experience using git or other version control software

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • General knowledge of security concepts and technologies
  • Thorough knowledge of Linux Systems and services particularly networking services and container management.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes where possible
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to changing landscapes and technologies
  • Strong Desire to learn new technologies and techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Comfortable speaking directly to customers in person during a client engagement
  • Skilled in writing scripts utilizing bash,python or ruby

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with any of Hiera, Redis, or Postgres
  • Familiarity with Git or other version/code management
  • Familiarity with cloud deployment tools such as cloudformation/terraform
  • Familiarity with jenkins and other ci/cd tools
  • Thorough understanding of virtualization technologies
  • Thorough understanding of microservices and creating containers
